Expanding the Office

For the past month there has been construction going on right next door to us in the office.  As I’m sure you’re all aware we at Broken Bulb Game Studios make awesome games.  Those awesome games require amazingly talented people to create them.  While those are few and far between to find, we have tracked down those local to the Valley of the Sun and built our team up to 23!  Having all these talented folks has indeed required us to expand our space!  So we’ve conquered the space just east of us and are having it remodeled to fit our needs.

Here are some pics:

Squiburr!

Just having some fun trying to tire myself out after working on a client logo design. This guy turned out pretty well I think.  Might do some more things with this guy down the line.

Stroked Anchor PSD Freebie!

Good morning all!  Thought I’d start the week off with that freebie I promised last week.  The design can be easily implemented into a WordPress theme and pretty much everything you see in the file is editable.  Shapes, text, icons.  Just something fun I wanted to share with you guys.

Hope you enjoy it and can get some use out of it, even if that means you only use the beer glass icons.  I’ll probably have the AI/EPS up for download soon as well.

Colts Fever

So far in this preseason, the Colts haven’t been doing so hot.  Well, honestly, nobody is… But that is part of the point of a preseason, I think. Isn’t it?  It has to be… what else could it be for?

Anywho, I wanted to show my support and pride with this design.  I may actually get one of these printed… Might do a few if others would like one to.  All I could ask is cost of printing and shipping, otherwise I think the NFL might put a hit out on me.

Drop me an email if you would like to show your support! GO HORSE!

The Voyage

This is just an exploratory piece.  I wanted to play around with blending modes and incorporate them into photographic elements to create more depth and substance.

I used to create a lot of these style pieces back in college. I’d go around to the computer labs and change the desktop backgrounds on a bunch of random computers and then leave.  Pissed off more than a few lab techs, but I thought it was fun and it was kind of like “bombing” when I was into graffiti.

Here it is in background form:

1920 x 1440

Someday, Space! Poster Design

Someday, Space!

For the past few weeks I’ve been working on this poster design, trying to re-explore the Photoshop side of my brain.  I primarily work in Illustrator these days for my game art, so every once in a while I have to delve back into a personal project to keep my skills up to par.  This particular project stemmed from the many hours of Farscape I have been watching lately.  I am a huge fan of sci-fi and space themed movies/TV shows, and I’m pretty sure that shows in most of my personal work.

I really wanted to build a feel of dreams and longing while presenting the idea as a kind of 1960′s meets retro-futuristic-modern mash-up.  By pulling the astronaut mostly into the foreground with the typography, I’m trying to build the notion of the dream of space travel.  I’m quite pleased with how it turned out and would really love to have some prints made of this beast.

Here’s a better view of it with some detail sections.

Ever since I started into game design, I’ve been finding better and better ways to incorporate the use of Illustrator and Photoshop into just about every personal project I do.  It hasn’t always been the case for me to use both programs in a single project, and now I don’t even consider the idea of only using one program.

Hope you enjoy it! Drop me a comment with your feedback, I’d love to hear it!
